Co-Founder Aquila Group

Roman Rosslenbroich is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Aquila Group. He is responsible for Aquila Group’s corporate development, strategy and investments. Prior to founding Aquila Group in 2001, he was Head of the fixed income rates division at Salomon Brothers in Frankfurt. Roman graduated in business administration from the Goethe University in Frankfurt.

Dr. Dieter Rentsch is co-founder and Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of Aquila Group. He is responsible for the company’s investment strategies, investment processes, key account management, finance, IT as well as risk management. Previously, he was Head of macro research at Munich Re Insurance Group (MEAG). Dieter has over 30 years of experience in the investment sector and holds a PhD in nuclear physics from the Justus-Liebig-University of Gießen.

Dr. Florian Becker is COO and General Counsel of the Aquila Group. Until the end of 2021, he was also CEO of Aquila Capital Investmentgesellschaft mbH, the capital management company of the Aquila Group. Prior to joining Aquila Group in 2013, Florian worked as a lawyer at an international law firm specialising in corporate, supervisory and real estate law. As part of his work for a large Australian law firm in Sydney he gained his first experience in the field of renewable energies in 2008-2009.

Chief Financial Officer Aquila Group

Christian Ohl heads up Aquila Group’s finance function. Prior to joining Aquila Group in 2012, Christian was the Head of group controlling at a healthcare company. In 2002, he started his career in the audit and corporate restructuring divisions of Arthur Andersen (later Ernst & Young) where he was responsible for the restructuring of national and international photovoltaic, shipping and timber companies. Christian holds a degree in commercial law and is a former certified auditor and syndicus tax advisor.

As Chair, Susanne is responsible for leading the shareholder committee of Aquila Clean Energy EMEA and mainly focused on strategic matters. She also ensures high governance standards within the company and amongst its board. Susanne has led and built the company as CEO from 2013 to 2024.

Max Dreiner is responsible for Corporate Development & Strategy of Aquila Group and its businesses. Prior to joining Aquila Group in 2017, Max worked in the investment and financial service industry for companies such as EY and KPMG. He holds a master’s degree in investments and finance from the Queen Mary University of London, where he graduated with distinction.
